Postal Credit Union's MISSION STATEMENT
As a member owned organization, it is our goal to provide you with excellent customer service as well as the best products and service available in today’s financial market.  Our members are our priority so we are striving to become your primary financial institution.

BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP
Founded on the basic democratic premise of the cooperative movement, credit unions believe that access to low-cost financial services is critical. Postal Credit Union gives members the ability to increase their financial security and plans for retirement.

Postal Credit Union strives to deliver the best service possible to our most important asset - our members. There is an application for membership on the next page.

POSTAL CREDIT UNION HISTORY
In 1931, eleven postal employees organized our credit union with a total of $440.00 in assets. We were the first credit union in Baton Rouge, and the sixth to be chartered in the State of Louisiana.

The annual salary of postal employees was only $800.00 and unfortunately, most was indebted to loan sharks. The Post Office was deeply concerned over this situation, and actively encouraged the formation of credit unions in most post offices so that their employees would have a cheaper source of credit.

We are proud to say that 30 years ago we expanded our field of membership to include our local Federal Agencies in Baton Rouge. Today, Postal Credit Union is growing stronger.

SAFETY & SOUNDNESS
Credit unions primarily engage in consumer loans and residential real estate lending to their members. Credit union performance is at a historically high level. Currently, credit union capital nationwide is 10.28% and the equity ratio of the federal insurance fund, the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), has operated above 1.25% for 11 consecutive years.

REGULATION & SUPERVISION
Credit unions are chartered under either federal or state law. Federally chartered credit unions are regulated by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an independent agency of the U.S. Government.
